It is important to engage content at each each level of cognition in order to achieve mastery and enable transfer of concepts to new contexts.
In order to be prepared for the ever changing future, our students need more than just proficiency in content knowledge. We must help them cultivate "soft skills" that are essential in the 21st Century. Critical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration, and Creativity need to be integrated into our teaching strategies not as an add on, but as an essential aspect of curriculum design.
